Open Door Physics is a blog designed to share what goes on both in my classroom and on my thoughts regarding student learning and teaching at the high school level.  I will try to highlight some of the many things that happen in my classroom and welcome feedback and thoughts on how to improve or augment what I currently do.

My name is Derek Segesdy and I have been teaching high school science since 2007.  I currently teach physics at Pomfret School, in Pomfret, Connecticut.  Along with my teaching role I coach boys soccer and squash and do residential duty.

Aside from teaching I spend time with my wife, Sarah, and my two boys, Seamus and Cormac and our daughter, Eve.  I also enjoy coaching and playing soccer and spending time outdoors camping, hiking, and mountain biking.
